Summary

This hands-on activity uses layered play-dough and boards to model how forces inside Earth can bend or break the crust. Students explore compression and tension, then observe how squeezing can create folds and how pulling can lead to cracking and shifting like faults. The lesson includes key vocabulary, reflection questions, and a short discussion to connect the model to real landforms and events such as mountains, valleys, volcano-related features, and earthquakes.
