Summary

This activity models photosynthesis by using an aquatic plant in water under a lamp to observe oxygen bubbles as the plant uses light energy. Students set up a simple plant-and-water system with a control, watch for changes over time, and connect what they see to how plants make sugar and release oxygen. The lesson then has groups design a single-variable change, such as different light or reduced light, to observe how conditions affect the amount of bubbling and discuss why photosynthesis matters for life and air quality.
