Summary
A 4-H hygiene lesson for grades 4 through 8 that shows how sugary and acidic drinks can damage teeth. Students use eggs as a stand-in for tooth enamel, soaking them in water, sports drinks, juices, and soda to observe staining and shell breakdown. The activity teaches basic tooth anatomy, how sugar and acids promote decay, and why effective brushing matters.
