Summary

A 4-H classroom lesson that uses Glo-Germ and a black light to show how germs can remain on hands after washing. Students apply lotion, check glowing “germs” under UV light, wash hands as they normally do, then compare results and identify missed areas like between fingers and around nails. The activity reinforces CDC handwashing steps and ends with a short writing exercise where students describe how they improved their technique. Includes materials, timing, and teaching notes for grades 4 through 8.
