Summary
Intermediate 4‑H Sheep Project outcomes build on beginner skills with deeper knowledge of wool and anatomy, health care, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, carcass evaluation, and recordkeeping. Youth learn to use medication labels for dosage and withdrawal times, practice injection methods, and recognize common sheep diseases. They identify forages and feedstuffs, read feed tags, and understand the ruminant digestive system. The guide also introduces reproductive terms and technologies, breed purposes and genetic concepts (including scrapie testing and EBVs), lamb cuts and grading terms, key sheep equipment, and ways to apply records in management, plus contest and leadership opportunities.
