Summary
Middle school activity that introduces how city governments are organized and how departments work together to deliver everyday services. Students match job duties to roles like public works, police, fire, parks and recreation, finance, planning and codes, animal control, and library staff. In small groups, they role play planning a community holiday event, negotiating responsibilities, safety needs, logistics, and funding while practicing teamwork and compromise across departments.
