Summary
In this lesson, students will be introduced to the pigments that give plants their colors and the role they play in photosynthesis. They will discuss the process of photosynthesis: how plants obtain carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight and combine them to produce sugar and oxygen. They will learn that pigments in plant leaves are used to capture sunlight that drives photosynthesis and visualize different pigments using chromatography.
