Summary

Adequate ventilation is critical for poultry house operation throughout the year. This is particularly true during colder times of the year (October through March) when growers must battle ammonia (NH3), high in-house humidity levels, and litter moisture buildup while trying to keep fuel use and costs at a manageable and affordable level. While wintertime minimum ventilation may sound simple (just cycle some fans now and then), it is often quite difficult to achieve.
