Summary
Intermediate 4-H Entomology and Beekeeping outcomes build hands-on skills in insect collection, identification, and life cycle study. Youth learn how to use and even make collecting tools, properly pin and mount specimens, label collections, and keep detailed observation records, including rearing insects at home. Topics include comparing insect mouthparts, wings, and feeding behaviors across major orders, and understanding complete and incomplete metamorphosis and social insects. The guide also explores invasive and household pests, how insects cause damage, basic arthropod evolutionary relationships, and respectful teamwork through appreciating differences among people.
