Summary
Beginner 4-H Entomology and Beekeeping outcomes introduce insect science and the role insects play in ecosystems and agriculture. Youth learn insect and arthropod basics, key body parts and functions, and the importance of observation and recordkeeping. Topics include how insects differ from spiders and other arthropods, honey bee castes and pollination, beekeeping equipment and budgeting, and other insect pollinators. The guide also covers biodiversity, insect communication, exotic and invasive species, and identifying harmful and beneficial insects using integrated pest management concepts.
