Summary
The granulate ambrosia beetle is a tiny wood-boring beetle that attacks many ornamental and fruit trees, often in early spring as plants come out of dormancy. Describes how to recognize infestations, including small entry holes, sawdust piles, and toothpick-like strands of boring dust. Covers monitoring with ethanol-baited traps and outlines management approaches such as reducing plant stress, removing and destroying heavily infested plants, and timing protective insecticide sprays when beetle flights begin.
