Summary

Garlic, a monocot in the onion and leeks family, produces small cloves, propagated vegetatively. Grown in mild climates, it can be produced in colder climates with proper selection and protection. Originating in Asia, garlic has a long history and lore, supporting ancient Greek athletic prowess and vampire deterrence. Modern compounds in garlic have antimicrobial properties and health benefits.
