Summary
Beginner-to-advanced 4‑H Sheep Project outcomes guide youth from basic sheep care to industry-ready skills. Learners build knowledge of terminology, anatomy, feeding and ruminant digestion, health practices and disease prevention, reproduction, genetics and breed selection, carcass cuts and evaluation, equipment use, and recordkeeping. Advanced topics add biosecurity planning, ration formulation, reproductive technologies, DNA and scrapie testing, and communicating about animal agriculture, with contests and mentoring opportunities throughout.
