Summary

Overview of the Stages of Change model for understanding and supporting behavior change. Describes five stages, pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance, and explains how people move through them at different paces. Uses an exercise example to show common thoughts and behaviors at each stage, plus why planning and support matter during action. Also explains relapse as a normal part of change and encourages using setbacks to adjust strategies and restart progress.
