If you have questions about this resource, contact your county Extension office.
Summary
Advanced 4-H Entomology and Beekeeping outcomes focus on deeper insect science skills and applying them to real-world problems. Youth learn insect classification using dichotomous keys, build and curate insect collections with strong scientific recordkeeping, and explore insect diversity, evolution, and the natural history of social insects like bees, ants, and termites. Topics also include how invasive insects spread, how climate change can shift insect ranges, and how to design integrated pest management plans using biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical controls. The guide connects insect and plant diversity to pollinators, food systems, and community issues through research, outreach, and capstone projects.
