Summary
Introduces on-farm treatment of preharvest irrigation water for fruit and vegetable growers, with a focus on how water safety fits into FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements. Module 1 explains what counts as agricultural water, why water quality varies, and how farms assess microbial risk and respond when standards are not met. The series then walks through treatment options and planning, including practical tools, how to build a farm-specific treatment program, how to implement it, and how to verify it is working. It also clarifies regulatory limits and labeling requirements for chemical treatments and devices, and highlights environmental and operational tradeoffs.
