Summary
Intermediate 4‑H Dairy project outcomes build deeper skills in dairy cattle management and evaluation. Youth learn more about breeds and conformation (including udder structure), animal health and biosecurity, vaccination and treatment techniques, parasites, and hoof anatomy. Nutrition topics include the full digestive tract, common feeds and nutrient terms, colostrum and weaning targets, and reading feed tags. Learners also cover reproduction and genetics tools (AI, synchronization, genomics), dairy product processing and pasteurization, performance measures and scoring systems, and milk pricing and farm finances, with contests and leadership opportunities.
