Summary
Beginner 4‑H Dairy project outcomes introduce youth to dairy cattle care and the dairy industry. Topics include basic terms and operation types, major dairy breeds, key body parts and conformation, normal health signs, vaccinations and injection methods, and reading medication labels. Youth also learn required equipment and recordkeeping, feeding basics for ruminants (including colostrum and feed tags), simple genetics and reproduction terms, common dairy products and meat from dairy animals, plus beginner showmanship and judging skills with opportunities for Skillathon and shows.
