Summary
Advanced 4-H communications outcomes focus on producing professional-quality messages and critiquing work. Youth tailor and deliver speeches for specific audiences, review video-recorded presentations, and create teaching materials on speech elements. Writing skills include detailed self- and peer-editing, plus creating press releases, feature stories, and a small research study written as a short manuscript. Professional development emphasizes realistic mock interviews, building and testing messages, and creating issue and crisis communication plans. Media skills include designing a trifold brochure, producing and editing a polished video with interviews and b-roll, and critiquing and re-shooting photographs to improve storytelling.
