Summary
Beginner 4-H communications outcomes build skills in public speaking, writing, and visual messaging. Topics include the key parts of a speech (speaker, audience, message, context, ethics), how to plan and organize a talk from research to rehearsal, and the main speech types (informative, persuasive, special occasion). Youth practice verbal and nonverbal delivery skills, learn to recognize journalistic, scholarly, and business writing styles, and explore communicating agricultural issues through message development and crisis communication. Visual design basics cover layout principles, visual aids, and simple editing software.
