Summary

Most current standard operating procedures used on goat dairies are based on standard operating procedures from dairy cattle operations. Proper milking procedures are important for all dairies to reduce the risk of mastitis, ensure proper milk letdown, and reduce bacterial populations in milk. Using a variety of resources, this article highlights proper milking procedures and why they are necessary.
