If you have questions about this resource, contact your county Extension office.
Summary
Tennessee’s transition-zone climate allows both warm- and cool-season turfgrasses to be grown, but each involves seasonal trade-offs. This publication provides Tennessee-specific guidance for selecting turfgrasses based on site conditions, management goals, and available resources. Species are compared using key traits including growth habit, establishment method, shade tolerance, mowing height, water needs, and nitrogen requirements to support resilient, well-adapted lawns and landscapes.
