Summary

Tennessee’s agritourism liability law (effective July 1, 2009) can limit a farm operator’s liability when a visitor is hurt by “inherent risks” of agritourism, such as land conditions, animals, or farm equipment. To use these protections, eligible farms must post required warning signs (and include the warning in certain contracts). The law doesn’t stop lawsuits or replace liability insurance, and protections don’t apply in cases like gross negligence, hidden known dangers, poor employee training, or intentional harm.
