Summary
Porcine stress syndrome (PSS) is an inherited neuromuscular disorder in pigs, controlled by a defective gene. It affects market hog muscle quality and performance. Debates persist over PSS gene use, but molecular biology advancements have developed a simple procedure for determining PSS genotype.
