Summary

The oak regeneration practices and recommendations described in this series are based on forested environments common in Tennessee and adjacent areas. It is a review of best practices for red a white oak regeneration. This series includes ten fact sheets that follow provide various silvicultural practices to regenerate oak. Learn more about site preparation, prescribed burning, soil scarifcation, midstory removal, oak shelterwood, small (gap) openings, two-age deferment system, intermediate practices to maintain open forests, oak enrichment or supplemental plantings.
